NEW! 2006 Updates to the Log Home |
In 2003, the log home was finished in a protective coating of a product that was described as light oak. When applied to the logs the product gave an orange appearance which we were never satisfied with. |
In 2006, we decided to update the Log Home with some improvements and a new shade of stain. Firstly, the balustrade was removed from around the property. |
The decking was extended to create a professional alpaca viewing platform, where visitors can sit in comfort and view the alpacas that are here for sale. |
The outer walls had to be grit blasted to remove the original colour, removing the outer 1mm of facing timber. It is OK of course, there another 8 inches of timber left. When the blasting was completed, the home began to look like a log cabin again. |

Here you can just see Robin finishing off the windows, removing the final traces of the orange covering that left us feeling we had been Tango'd. |
A return to the natural look of Canadian Eastern White Pine. |
Then, finally, with the help of the UK's Log Home Experts, Windmill Lodges of Suffolk |
The Log Home was treated to a coat of real wood stain. |
And in August 2006 now it really does look like a Log Cabin. |
