| At Wellground Alpaca Stud, we
have taken Biosecurity to the highest possible level. |
| We owe it to our clients to
ensure that they get the highest level of Biosecurity when
purchasing breeding stock from our Elite Breeding Herd. When
prospective clients visit Wellground Alpaca Stud, they do so safe
in the knowledge that we have taken the most stringent steps to
protect their livestock investment. The following measures are
currently in force at Wellground Alpaca Stud. |
| 1. The perimeter of
our farm has been professionally installed with Badger-Proof
fencing. Using a product specially designed for the task by
Tornado Fencing, this has been trenched into the ground in
compliance with the
manufacturers specific instructions. The outer line of the fencing
is also electrified, to prevent access to our land by wildlife
climbing the badger-proof fencing. All access points to our land have been
fortified to prevent any access to carriers of Bovine TB from the
wildlife vector.

| 2. We now operate a
'Closed Herd Policy'. Our Core Herd of breeding alpacas are
kept as biosecure as possible. No alpacas will enter the
Core Herd. We have
our own diverse and elite stud stock for breeding so there
is no need for visiting alpacas to contact our Core Herd.
Basically, alpacas only leave our farm, they only arrive at
the farm as newborn cria. |
| 3. We have
implemented a very strict farm access procedure involving
all visitors passing through biosecurity checks, using
disinfectant boot washes and walking over disinfectant
matting. |
| 4. All alpacas on
our holding are subject to laboratory faeces testing on a
quarterly basis. We keep a very close check on disease and
parasites within our alpacas. Our alpacas are kept in the
very highest welfare and husbandry conditions. |
